The Fortress of the Bears

This pretty nifty place was put together last summer, with the arrival of 2 orphan bear cubs. They run it in conjunction with 'The Farm', which is as the name implies. Here's Mom and Dad watching the gambolling of 2 little cubs of not of their family (as opposed to watching 2 little cubs that are, gambolling at home 24-7)

Daddy and Austin getting set in the kid cage.

So, these bear cubs are kept in an old, old holding tank.
There's the exit for thier 'cave' area of course,
though they won't hibernate until they're much older.

There's water to play in, lots off debris around the edges as well.

The walkway above them is where the live fish get thrown into the pit.

(why this is double spacing I don't know but it's driving me nutters!)

We went out for Cinco De Mayo and they lowered pinatas down there for the bears to break apart. Here's Shane standing by the bear he could touch.
Grandpa too.

Austin in the Kid Cage.

The whole time we were there they were playing in the water.
Though they'll never be re-introduced to the wild,
the folks out there make them work for thier food as much as possible.

They also vary the amounts of food and types to simulate the wild as much as possible.

Making faces from behind bars.
(Aussie discovered his tounge this month and has been giving it a work out!)

Hey everyone! Thanks for dropping a note on our blog! I'm excited to see what you have to say (and have a little round-about adult interaction!) Please don't put up any personal info- email that directly to me. :) Thanks so much!
